About the role
We are looking for an enthusiastic Accounts Assistant / Bookkeeper to join our ABAS and Outsourcing team in Cork. This role offers the chance to develop your accounting career in a supportive environment while working with a diverse portfolio of clients.
Key responsibilities
- Perform bookkeeping tasks for clients as directed.
- Identify and implement improvements to clients' bookkeeping systems.
- Execute bank reconciliations for all assigned clients.
- Carry out control account reconciliations as required.
- Utilise Dext and other applications to increase efficiency.
- Prepare VAT returns for review by the client manager.
- Plan and manage your own time to maximise profitability and uphold the firm’s reputation.
- Maintain high standards of personal organisation and deliver excellent client service.
Required profile
- Fluent English with strong written communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and a solutions‑focused mindset.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to continuous professional development.
Required skills
- Experience with accounting software such as Xero, Sage, QuickBooks, Big Red Book.
- Knowledge of core accounting apps, particularly Dext.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and email systems.
