Audit and Accounts Manager – Kilkenny

About the role

O'Neill Foley is seeking an experienced Audit and Accounts Manager to join its Kilkenny office during a period of sustained client growth. The role combines technical leadership with client relationship management, offering the chance to shape the firm’s audit and accounts practice.

Key responsibilities

• Lead planning, execution and completion of audit and accounts assignments for a varied portfolio of clients, including family businesses, owner‑managed companies and not‑for‑profit organisations.
• Act as senior point of contact, providing clear, commercially sound advice on accounting, audit and financial reporting matters.
• Review work prepared by trainee and qualified staff to ensure high technical standards.
• Manage budgets, timelines and fee recoverability for each assignment.
• Support partners in developing the audit and accounts offering and identifying growth opportunities within the existing client base.
• Mentor and develop junior team members, fostering technical and professional growth.
• Contribute to cross‑departmental initiatives and business development activities.
• Represent O'Neill Foley at professional and business forums as required.

Required profile

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or equivalent) with substantial post‑qualification experience in an Irish practice.
• Strong technical knowledge of financial reporting standards and current auditing standards.
• Proven experience leading audit and accounts assignments end‑to‑end for owner‑managed clients.
• Demonstrated ability to manage, mentor and develop a team.
• Confidence in dealing directly with business owners and senior management.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and commercial awareness.
