Financial Accountant

About the role

We are looking for a Financial Accountant to join a fast‑growing med‑tech company in Galway. Reporting directly to the CFO, you will be responsible for delivering accurate financial reporting across multiple entities and supporting the finance team as the business scales.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts, variance analysis and commentary for several entities.
• Execute month‑end close activities including journal entries, accruals, pre‑payments, inter‑company transactions and foreign‑currency revaluations.
• Maintain the general ledger, perform balance‑sheet reconciliations and assist with FX translation and inter‑company eliminations for group reporting.
• Support the preparation of financial statements in line with US GAAP and FRS 102.
• Manage the fixed‑asset register and calculate depreciation across all entities.
• Assist with annual budgeting, regular forecasting and monthly spend‑to‑budget reporting.
• Ensure compliance with Irish statutory, VAT and tax requirements and prepare grant and R&D tax credit claims.
• Provide audit support, prepare schedules and act as the primary contact for external auditors.

Required profile

• Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with high attention to detail.
• Ability to manage competing deadlines in a small, fast‑paced finance team.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for presenting financial information to non‑finance colleagues.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel.
• Experience with accounting/ERP systems.
• Working knowledge of US GAAP and FRS 102 reporting standards.
• Exposure to multi‑entity and multi‑currency accounting.
