Maintenance Planner – Mobile

About the role

The Planner – Maintenance Control (Mobile) develops and maintains detailed maintenance plans and schedules to maximise asset reliability and minimise downtime at Newmont’s Lihir Operation. The role supports the Supervisor Planning and Scheduling by ensuring resources, materials and equipment are efficiently allocated for safe and effective maintenance execution.

Key responsibilities

• Implement detailed maintenance plans for scheduled work.
• Liaise with supply chain to secure materials and parts availability.
• Schedule work orders based on operational priorities.
• Administer and maintain the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
• Coordinate with supervisors to align schedules with resource availability.
• Monitor progress of planned maintenance activities and identify inefficiencies.
• Prepare reports on maintenance performance and key metrics.
• Assist budgeting and forecasting for maintenance activities.
• Identify continuous‑improvement opportunities in work management.

Required profile

• Degree qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related trade discipline.
• Experience with maintenance planning and scheduling software (e.g., JDE, Pronto, Sigga, Promethius).
• Familiarity with heavy mining equipment in a large‑scale open‑cut mining environment (preferred).
• Strong understanding of work‑management practices and ability to analyse performance data.
• Good stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
• Awareness of safety, environmental and regulatory requirements.
• Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
