Processing Technician

About the role

The Processing Technician plays a critical part in operating Newmont's Lihir processing plant. You will manage key sections such as grinding circuits, flotation cells, and thickener operations, ensuring safety, efficiency and daily production targets are met.

Key responsibilities

• Prioritise safety by complying with HSE policies, reporting hazards and monitoring plant conditions.
• Collaborate with diverse shift teams, participate in handovers, toolbox meetings and training sessions.
• Drive production by operating plant equipment, completing routine inspections and maintaining housekeeping standards.
• Identify cost‑saving opportunities and minimise waste to control operating expenses.

Required profile

• Proven experience in heavy industry, preferably mining.
• Minimum Grade 10 education; tertiary qualifications or metalliferous processing certificates are a plus.
• Class 6 PNG driver’s licence.
• Strong communication, attention to detail, time‑management and technical knowledge in mineral processing.
• Safety‑conscious, proactive problem‑solver, team player and adaptable to changing conditions.
