Public Liaison Officer

About the role

The Public Liaison Officer will act as the bridge between GMC Utilities Group, the public, and key stakeholders. You will ensure clear communication, manage community expectations, and support the smooth delivery of infrastructure projects.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the primary contact for residents, businesses, elected officials, and other local stakeholders.
• Communicate project timelines, activities, and impacts clearly and promptly.
• Coordinate with engineers, contractors, and authorities to address public concerns and minimise disruption.
• Organise and attend community engagement events, information sessions, and site visits.
• Maintain detailed records of stakeholder interactions and resolve issues efficiently.
• Provide regular updates and reports to project managers and internal teams.

Required profile

• Previous experience in liaison, community engagement, or stakeholder management, preferably within civil engineering or utilities.
• Strong interpersonal and communication abilities to engage confidently with the public, business owners, and political representatives.
• Professionalism and diplomacy when handling sensitive or complex issues.
• Familiarity with infrastructure or construction projects is highly desirable.
• Full driving licence and access to transport preferred.
