Senior Backend Engineer / Architect (.NET / Distributed Systems)

About the role

We are partnering with a fast‑growing SaaS company that operates a high‑throughput platform in the financial technology space. The team is entering a major expansion phase and needs a senior backend engineer who can dive into a complex distributed system, understand its behaviour under load, and help shape its long‑term technical direction.

Key responsibilities

• Design and evolve large‑scale distributed backend services using C#/.NET.
• Improve scalability, resilience, performance and operational reliability of the platform.
• Analyse production behaviour across services, messaging, APIs and databases to prevent bottlenecks and architectural drift.
• Provide technical leadership across multiple teams, reviewing designs and establishing scalable patterns.
• Mentor engineers on debugging, distributed‑systems thinking and reliability practices.
• Troubleshoot complex production issues and enhance observability, diagnostics and monitoring.
• Work with CI/CD pipelines and cloud‑native environments to ensure smooth delivery.

Required profile

• Extensive experience building large‑scale backend systems in C#/.NET.
• Background in scaling SaaS or platform engineering environments.
• Deep understanding of distributed systems, concurrency, consistency, retries, idempotency and failure handling.
• Comfort operating at Staff/Principal/Architect level and influencing technical direction.
