Senior Backend Engineer, Node.js + AWS

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to design and deliver high‑performance, cloud‑native services for a globally distributed technology platform. You will work in a remote‑first environment, collaborating with cross‑functional teams to build reliable APIs and scalable systems that power products used by businesses worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs using Node.js, TypeScript and modern cloud technologies.
• Collaborate with frontend engineers, product managers, designers and QA throughout the full software development lifecycle.
• Build and optimise high‑throughput systems capable of handling large transaction volumes and rapid scalability.
• Implement secure, reliable API architectures, including authentication, validation and queue‑based processing.
• Optimise PostgreSQL databases through advanced query tuning, schema design and migrations.
• Contribute to architectural decisions and continuously improve system reliability, maintainability and scalability.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues while maintaining high engineering standards.
• Participate in product discovery, technical planning and deployment processes.

Required profile

• Minimum 8 years of professional software engineering experience with a strong backend focus.
• Advanced proficiency in Node.js and TypeScript/JavaScript, plus experience with at least one additional server‑side language.
• Deep expertise in PostgreSQL, including data modelling, query optimisation and migrations.
• Solid understanding of object‑oriented programming, software architecture and design patterns.
• Proven experience designing scalable distributed systems and handling high‑traffic loads.
• Hands‑on experience building secure APIs, authentication mechanisms and asynchronous/queue‑based architectures.
