Staff Nurse – Mental Health (Graduate)

About the role

The Health Service Executive (HSE) is seeking newly qualified mental health nurses to join its Altra Foirne (Mental Health) service across the Mid‑West region. This permanent position is open to 2026 graduates and offers both part‑time and whole‑time options in Limerick, Clare and North Tipperary.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality nursing care to adults with mental health disorders in inpatient, continuing‑care and rehabilitation settings.
• Assess, plan and review care plans, ensuring safe management of challenging behaviours and self‑harm risk.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including psychiatrists, psychologists and allied health professionals.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and use electronic patient record systems.
• Promote patient safety, security and risk‑management protocols.

Required profile

• Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland.
• Graduated in 2026 (or equivalent) and eligible to work in Ireland.
• Willingness to work across Limerick, Clare and North Tipperary.
• Flexibility to undertake part‑time or whole‑time schedules.
• Ability to respond calmly to challenging situations and support patients in crisis.
