About the role
The Ballynahinch Castle Hotel is seeking an Accounts Payable Assistant to support the financial operations of the property. This role is ideal for a detail‑oriented individual who is either qualified in accountancy or working towards a qualification and wants to develop a career in hotel finance.
Key responsibilities
- Liaise daily with department heads to source products and authorise purchase orders within budget.
- Assist heads of departments with store management, monitor stock levels and ensure costs align with budgets.
- Maintain strong supplier relationships, conduct regular price checks and secure competitive pricing.
- Check goods received against orders, reconcile quantities and quality, and report discrepancies.
- Input invoices into the accounting system, reconcile supplier statements, and prepare weekly/monthly payments for authorisation.
- Reconcile and post weekly petty‑cash dockets and ensure accurate filing of paperwork.
- Distribute received goods to the appropriate departments.
Required profile
- Accountancy qualification or actively pursuing one.
- Experience in an accounts department, preferably within the hotel industry.
- Willingness to assist with all administrative functions.
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office, with strong Excel skills.
- Familiarity with hotel procurement systems (e.g., Procure Wizard, Hotsoft, Volante) and accounting software such as QuickBooks is beneficial.
