Gas & Power Trader Analyst – Dublin

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Gas & Power Trader Analyst to join TTEP’s All‑Island Trading Team in Dublin. The role involves trading and optimisation of a growing generation portfolio across Ireland and Great Britain, supporting the execution of trading strategies in the I‑SEM markets.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and submit ex‑ante market bids for multiple thermal units in the I‑SEM.
• Optimise balancing market bids and manage daily gas capacity positions to minimise overrun costs.
• Trade within‑day gas and power markets to balance positions and reduce exposure.
• Manage carbon positions and trade carbon in line with internal policies.
• Develop short‑term trading strategies for ex‑ante and balancing markets to maximise plant P&L.
• Produce market reports and analyses for senior management and industry bodies.

Required profile

• Proven experience in gas and electricity markets, with detailed knowledge of I‑SEM.
• Understanding of Ireland and GB commodity markets, including gas, coal, oil and carbon.
• Familiarity with electricity interconnector operation and relevant market codes (REMIT, EMIR, etc.).
• Degree in a numerate discipline such as mathematics, economics, finance or data science.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel for market modelling and analysis.
• SQL and Python for data handling and statistical analysis.
• VBA and Management Studio for database applications.
• Experience with PLEXOS or similar power system modelling tools.
