Purchasing Officer

About the role

The Purchasing Officer will join the Commercial team at Simberi Gold’s open‑cut mine operation. This permanent full‑time position supports the timely and cost‑effective supply of goods and services essential for mining operations.

Key responsibilities

• Check requisitions and issue purchase orders for office, custodial, machinery parts and other operational needs.
• Prepare requests for quotations, obtain telephone quotes, and recommend purchase order awards.
• Expedite purchase orders to ensure timely delivery and monitor shipment schedules.
• Maintain product bid lists and liaise with suppliers and sales representatives.
• Prepare correspondence with vendors and internal departments regarding purchase orders.
• Provide procurement advice on product characteristics, capabilities and suitability.
• Assist with training and supervision of purchasing staff.
• Prepare and maintain reports on requisitions, purchase orders, shipments and supplier issues.
• Prioritise workloads, plan and schedule tasks with minimal supervision.
• Maintain punctual attendance and adhere to the 21/14 roster schedule.

Required profile

• Experience in purchasing or procurement functions.
• Ability to work on a rostered schedule and maintain punctual attendance.
• Strong organisational skills to plan, prioritise and manage competing priorities.
• Attention to detail for accurate reporting and order processing.
