Transport Shift Manager

About the role

Join Ireland's largest foodservice provider as a Transport Shift Manager at the Dublin Distribution Centre. You will lead a busy transport team, ensuring efficient daily dispatches and supporting the company's commitment to putting the customer first.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate all depot activities and dispatch routes to maintain smooth operations.
• Coach, motivate and manage performance and absence of delivery team members.
• Communicate regularly with sales, warehouse and transport departments through briefings.
• Minimise equipment breakdowns, report repairs and ensure vehicles are clean, maintained and safely operated.
• Manage incoming and outgoing goods, back‑haul collections and provide relief driving when needed.
• Identify training needs, organise and deliver driver training.
• Maintain high standards of premises cleanliness, security and Health & Safety compliance.
• Lead by example, applying company policies fairly and consistently.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years in a supervisory or management role within a high‑volume, time‑sensitive distribution environment.
• Experience in food distribution is advantageous.
• Strong ability to plan, organise and prioritize work for yourself and your team.
• Good knowledge of Department of Transport regulations, including tachograph legislation and the Work Time Directive.
• Proven decision‑making skills with a hands‑on approach.
• Analytical mindset to interpret trends and drive performance improvements.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word.
• Competence in using IT systems for transport and logistics operations.
• Knowledge of Department of Transport regulations (tachograph, work‑time rules).
