Registrar in Cardiology

About the role

The Department of Cardiology at St James Hospital is seeking a Registrar to join a high‑volume, supra‑regional Primary PCI centre. The role focuses on electrophysiology, including invasive EP procedures, EP clinics, diagnostics and cardiac device monitoring, under consultant supervision.

Key responsibilities

• Perform invasive electrophysiology investigations and manage EP clinics.
• Assess, diagnose, plan and implement treatment for cardiology patients.
• Document all clinical activities in line with departmental and professional standards.
• Communicate findings and recommendations to patients and multidisciplinary team members.
• Participate in ward rounds, case conferences, and multidisciplinary meetings.
• Contribute to the development of departmental policies, procedures and guidelines.
• Maintain confidentiality, ethical standards and comply with relevant legislation.

Required profile

• General Registration or Trainee Specialist Division Registration with the Irish Medical Council.
• Completion of Basic Specialty Training in Internal Medicine.
• Holder of MRCPI or an equivalent qualification.
• Eligibility to provide Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).

Required skills

• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
