Group Financial Controller – Charity

About the role

The Group Financial Controller will oversee the finance function across six charitable entities, leading an eight‑person finance team. Reporting to the CFO, you will ensure accurate accounting, robust financial planning, and compliance with statutory and donor requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts and cash‑flow forecasts.
• Lead, mentor and develop the finance team.
• Support annual and long‑term budgeting processes.
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and pension administration.
• Manage year‑end audits and statutory accounts in line with Charity SORP/FRS102.
• Ensure tax and statutory compliance.
• Set HSE budgets, report variances and produce donor reports.
• Drive systems improvements, automation and support the ERP migration.

Required profile

• ACA or ACCA qualified with 10+ years of finance experience, including 5+ years in a senior role.
• Proven experience in management accounts, statutory reporting, budgeting, forecasting and audits.
• Strong financial governance, internal controls and compliance expertise.
• Systems‑focused mindset with experience in process improvement; ERP implementation experience is a plus.
• Demonstrated leadership and team‑development abilities.
• Excellent communication, attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
• Knowledge of Charity SORP (FRS102) and not‑for‑profit sector is desirable.
