Mechanical Engineer – Site Management & QA

About the role

We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join a medium‑sized mechanical contractor in Dublin. The role focuses on site safety, quality assurance and overall on‑site coordination for a variety of construction projects, including pharma, semiconductor, residential, hotel and office developments.

Key responsibilities

• Manage site safety in partnership with the Safety Advisor, including set‑up, maintenance and closure of the safety file.
• Oversee site QA together with the Mechanical Package Manager, handling documentation from initiation to close‑out.
• Coordinate project schedules with other trades, package leads, consulting engineers and clients.
• Assist in cost management for the mechanical package, including subcontractor budgets.
• Control material deliveries, plant and equipment logistics, variations and valuations.
• Direct day‑to‑day on‑site operations and supervise subcontractor activities, ensuring weekly progress meetings.
• Maintain the “In Progress” snagging system and issue weekly punch‑list updates.
• Record labour and subcontractor hours for central tracking.
• Attend site, internal, engineering, planning and hand‑over meetings.
• Close out project items such as O&M manuals, punch lists, safety and QA files.
• Produce weekly look‑ahead plans, progress reports and photographic updates.

Required profile

• Mechanical engineering qualification or equivalent experience.
• Strong computer skills, particularly Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Proven track record of coordinating and managing large construction projects.
• Experience working with a mechanical contractor in the construction sector.
