Chef – Food Production Supervisor

About the role

The Chef will lead the food production area, ensuring efficient operations and delivering high‑quality fresh products to customers. This position combines hands‑on cooking with supervisory responsibilities in a busy retail environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, cook, and display fresh food items throughout the day.
• Oversee day‑to‑day food production operations and ensure smooth workflow.
• Conduct stock takes, calculate cost prices, and manage portion control.
• Order supplies for the deli department and control waste.
• Maintain HACCP and food‑safety standards at all times.
• Lead, motivate and develop staff, including rostering and budgeting.
• Participate in management meetings and drive continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Minimum 1 year experience in a supervisory or managerial role (desirable).
• At least 2 years experience in fresh‑food handling.
• Proven ability to meet sales targets and KPIs.
• Strong customer focus with a passion for innovative food offerings.

• HACCP and food‑safety certification.
• Stocktaking and cost‑price calculation.
• Ordering and waste‑management for fresh‑food departments.
• Budgeting and roster management.
• Portion control and product costing.
