Chef – Food Production Supervisor

About the role

The Chef will lead the food production area on Main Street, Rathdrum, ensuring efficient operations and delivering high‑quality fresh products to customers. This role combines hands‑on cooking with supervisory responsibilities, supporting the store’s brand values of pride, energy, imagination, and community.

Key responsibilities

• Cook, prepare, and display fresh food throughout the day.
• Oversee daily food production operations and ensure smooth workflow.
• Conduct stock takes, calculate cost prices, and manage portion control.
• Order supplies for the deli department and control waste.
• Rostering staff, adhering to budget constraints, and monitoring KPIs.
• Participate in regular management meetings and drive continuous improvement.
• Induct, train, and develop food production team members.

Required profile

• Minimum 1‑2 years experience in a supervisory or manager role within fresh food.
• Proven track record of meeting sales targets and KPIs.
• Strong customer focus with the ability to build a loyal customer base.
• Passion for the food industry, creativity, and innovation in product offering.
• Ability to inspire, lead, and motivate staff.

Required skills

• HACCP certification and food safety knowledge.
• Stocktaking and inventory management.
• Ordering and waste management for fresh food departments.
• Budget management and cost control.
