About the role

The Health Service Executive (HSE) is recruiting two Consultant Physicians in Geriatric Medicine to join the multidisciplinary team at Letterkenny University Hospital. This senior clinical position offers 37 hours per week of patient‑focused care across the West and North West health region.

Key responsibilities

• Provide expert clinical assessment, diagnosis and management of older patients in acute and community settings.
• Lead and develop a multidisciplinary team, including nurses, allied health professionals and junior doctors.
• Participate in on‑call rotas and emergency care pathways for geriatric patients.
• Contribute to teaching, mentorship and continuous professional development programmes.
• Engage in clinical governance, audit activities and research initiatives to improve service quality.

Required profile

• Medical degree and full registration with the Medical Council of Ireland.
• Specialist training and accreditation in Geriatric Medicine.
• Eligibility for consultant appointment within the HSE.
• Commitment to delivering high‑quality, patient‑centred care.

• Advanced clinical expertise in Geriatric Medicine.
