Occupational Health Physician – Workplace Health Expert

About the role

We are looking for an Occupational Health Physician to join a leading provider of occupational health services in Waterford. The role involves delivering expert medical advice on workplace health, supporting employers and employees to maintain a safe and productive environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide fitness‑for‑work, absence management and return‑to‑work assessments.
• Conduct pre‑employment medicals, health surveillance and occupational health assessments.
• Collaborate with employers and HR teams to address health concerns and promote health initiatives.
• Manage and report workplace incidents, including occupational injuries and illnesses.
• Advise on compliance with health and safety legislation and standards.
• Offer specialist guidance on mental health, ergonomics and work‑life balance.
• Stay current with best practices and emerging trends in occupational health.

Required profile

• Fully qualified Medical Practitioner registered with the Irish Medical Council.
• Experienced General Practitioner with interest or qualification in occupational health (e.g., Diploma in Occupational Medicine).
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for engaging with employees, employers and multidisciplinary teams.
• Solution‑oriented mindset with excellent problem‑solving abilities.
• Knowledge of Irish workplace health legislation and standards (highly desirable).
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and innovation in occupational health.
