Customer Service Assistant – Retail (Portlaoise)

About the role

You will deliver an outstanding customer experience in a busy retail environment, supporting the Shop Manager and team to ensure smooth daily operations. The role involves handling bets, cash, and providing friendly, knowledgeable service both in‑store and through digital channels.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Shop Manager and Assistant Manager with day‑to‑day shop operations.
• Open and close the shop, managing cash procedures and shop presentation standards.
• Accept and process customer bets via betting terminals and the EPOS system.
• Act as a brand ambassador, introducing customers to multi‑channel and online offerings.
• Maintain safety, compliance, and social responsibility procedures.
• Step in to lead the shop in the absence of managers, ensuring team guidance and operational continuity.

Required profile

• Customer‑service focused with a helpful, friendly attitude.
• Trustworthy, adaptable and able to work 7 days a week.
• Strong attention to detail, numeracy and cash‑handling accuracy.
• Enthusiastic team player with a keen interest in sports and betting.
• Ability to work under pressure, stay calm and seek continuous improvement.

Required skills

• Proficiency with EPOS systems for transaction processing.
