Data Center Technician, Global Server Operations

About the role

Google's Hardware Operations team is looking for a Data Center Technician to join its Global Server Operations group. You will work on the physical infrastructure that powers Google services, installing, configuring, testing, and maintaining servers and networking equipment in a cutting‑edge data‑center environment.

Key responsibilities

• Install, configure, test, and troubleshoot server hardware and associated components.
• Maintain and monitor large‑scale networking gear such as switches, routers, hubs, and bridges.
• Diagnose and repair broken equipment, including servers, storage, and networking devices.
• Lead or contribute to small project teams for larger installations and develop contingency plans.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to resolve escalated technical issues.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• Hands‑on experience with computer and server hardware, troubleshooting, and diagnosing issues.
• Experience with operating systems and networking protocols.
• Preferred experience in server‑system maintenance, Linux environments, project management, and data‑center or NOC operations.
• Ability to work collaboratively to overcome technical challenges.
