Senior Software Engineer – Virtual Card Services

About the role

The Virtual Card Services (VCS) team within Mastercard Commercial Solutions is seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer to drive the next generation of commercial payment solutions. You will work on innovative virtual‑card products that enable secure, seamless B2B payments for customers worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy and maintain highly scalable cloud‑native applications for the Virtual Card Services platform using Java, Spring Boot and Pivotal Cloud Foundry.
• Build and support RESTful and SOAP‑based APIs, micro‑services and distributed systems at scale.
• Participate in end‑to‑end software development from requirements analysis through production support.
• Lead data‑migration initiatives, ensuring data integrity and performance during platform modernization.
• Manage release activities, including deployment planning, validation, production readiness and post‑release monitoring.
• Create automated and manual test cases to guarantee software quality, reliability and security.
• Collaborate with product owners, architects and cross‑functional teams in an Agile environment.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote engineering best practices.

Required skills

• Strong experience with Java, Spring Boot and related frameworks.
• Proficiency in building RESTful and SOAP APIs, micro‑services and distributed architectures.
• Hands‑on experience with JSON, XML, PCF (or similar cloud platforms) and containerisation.
• Knowledge of data‑migration processes, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing and secure coding practices.
• Familiarity with relational and NoSQL databases, cloud‑native design and event‑driven messaging.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams and collaborating with geographically distributed groups.
