Engineering Manager – Software Development

About the role

Mastercard is seeking a hands‑on Engineering Manager to lead the design, development, and delivery of scalable software solutions. You will balance technical contribution with people leadership, guiding a high‑performing team across Kubernetes, Java, and Spring Boot ecosystems.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of software engineers.
• Contribute directly to code, design, and architecture (≈50% of time).
• Define requirements for new applications and customizations while adhering to standards.
• Establish best practices for code quality, maintainability, and scalability.
• Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies to improve platform efficiency.
• Drive transition toward AI‑driven and intelligent automation solutions.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams in Pune and U.S. locations.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing and mentoring software engineering teams.
• Strong full‑stack development background in an agile environment.
• Experience engaging external IT vendors and managing vendor relationships.
• Excellent communication skills for both technical and non‑technical audiences.
