Lead System Engineer

About the role

PFH Technology is seeking an experienced Lead System Engineer to join a key client in Cork. The role combines senior technical expertise with team leadership, acting as the primary escalation point for complex infrastructure issues in a fast‑paced enterprise environment.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the senior escalation point and technical lead for the IT support team.
• Lead, mentor and manage a team of Level 2 support engineers.
• Oversee support case volumes, ticket backlogs, escalations and service‑delivery priorities.
• Maintain Windows Server environments, storage, backup and LAN technologies.
• Administer Microsoft Exchange and Active Directory.
• Support VMware virtualised environments and SAN storage.
• Perform system monitoring, scheduled backups and disaster‑recovery activities.
• Handle desktop roll‑outs, upgrades, hardware repairs and printer support.
• Document IT processes, operational procedures and ensure compliance with security policies.

Required profile

• Minimum 4 years of systems administration or enterprise IT support experience.
• Previous experience leading or supervising a technical team.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and customer‑service orientation.
