About the role
The Management Accountant will support the financial project lead in maintaining an efficient budgetary control system, delivering high‑quality financial reporting and analysis, and providing strategic advice to senior stakeholders across NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare and manage budgets in partnership with managers and senior finance staff.
- Produce and distribute monthly management reports on time and to the required level of detail.
- Provide accurate financial information to support operational and strategic decision‑making.
- Analyse significant variances and trends, recommending corrective actions.
- Maintain and reconcile budgetary control systems to ensure financial integrity.
- Prepare financial reports for joint working with external organisations.
- Calculate and present year‑end forecasts in collaboration with budget managers.
Required profile
- Relevant degree or equivalent qualification in finance, accounting or a related field.
- Proven experience in management accounting within a large or public‑sector organisation.
- Ability to work effectively with senior stakeholders and cross‑functional teams.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving capabilities.
- Knowledge of NHS or public‑sector financial processes is an advantage.
