Power BI Data Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Power BI Data Engineer to join our information services team supporting a financial leasing business. The role works closely with aviation specialists to design and deliver a core suite of Power BI reports, operating in a hybrid work model.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with aviation teams to gather and rationalise reporting requirements.
• Develop Power BI reports and dashboards that meet business needs while adhering to data standards.
• Write and maintain complex SQL stored procedures and views.
• Partner with the BI Manager, data engineers, project managers and reporting colleagues on larger data initiatives.
• Coordinate with third‑party suppliers and the global development team.
• Provide leadership on data visualisation and insight presentation.
• Support existing BI reports on a day‑to‑day basis.
• Participate in daily reporting stand‑up meetings.

Required profile

• Third‑level qualification in Computer Science, Programming or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of SQL development experience.
• 5+ years of experience with Power BI and DAX.
• Experience working in a DevOps environment and a “build for support” mindset.
• Strong knowledge of data modelling principles.
• Proven ability to elicit, understand and deliver business reporting requirements.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with GIT or other source‑control tools.
• Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.
• Team player comfortable with multicultural, geographically dispersed teams.
• Knowledge of data science or machine learning is a plus.
