Senior Software Engineer (Backend / Platform – Agentic AI)

About the role

Mastercard is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join its AI & Decision Product Enablement team. You will help build and operate production‑grade backend services that power real‑time intelligence across Mastercard’s global network, focusing on agentic AI workflows.

Key responsibilities

• Translate product and solution blueprints into detailed technical designs and production‑ready code.
• Develop, test, and maintain secure, resilient, observable microservices and APIs.
• Own the full software development lifecycle, from requirements refinement to deployment and production support.
• Design and implement agentic workflows using large language models (LLMs) and frameworks such as LangChain or LangGraph.
• Apply guardrails including prompt/version management, safety checks, latency and cost controls, and fallback mechanisms.
• Enhance reliability through monitoring, logging, tracing, SLO‑driven operations, incident response, and post‑mortem analysis.

Required profile

• Proven experience delivering backend services at scale in a fast‑moving technology environment.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to work autonomously from design through production.
• Passion for AI/ML technologies and building robust, production‑ready AI workflows.
