Associate Director, Capability & Learning

About the role

An exciting opportunity to lead the Learning, Capability and Digital Enablement function at MSD’s Carlow site. The Associate Director will ensure workforce readiness, compliance and inspection readiness while translating business priorities into measurable capability outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the site learning and capability strategy aligned with business priorities and the Carlow launch ambition.
• Translate priorities into a multi‑year capability roadmap and annual plan with clear milestones and ownership.
• Partner with site leaders to identify capability gaps and deliver fit‑for‑purpose interventions.
• Develop role‑based curricula, skills matrices and qualification pathways, leveraging digital, AI‑enabled and immersive solutions.
• Govern the training system, maintain QMS compliance and ensure audit‑ready qualification records.
• Act as Sub‑System Owner for EHS Training, overseeing governance and continuous improvement.
• Improve learning processes using MPS, structured problem solving and data‑led decision making.
• Lead and develop the L&D team, manage the training budget and drive cost‑effective strategic initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• Relevant experience in learning, capability development or business excellence within a highly regulated environment.
• Proven ability to shape capability strategy and translate business priorities into measurable plans.
• Strong stakeholder influence in a complex matrix organisation and experience across learning systems, curricula, qualification and digital enablement.
• People and change leadership skills, with experience delivering programmes that incorporate AI‑enabled or immersive learning.
