Consultant Haematologist (10 sessions)

About the role

We are seeking a Consultant Haematologist (10 sessions) to join a team of seven consultants delivering haematology services across Tayside. The role is based at Ninewells Hospital in Dundee and the Perth Royal Infirmary, with a sub‑specialist focus on haemostasis and thrombosis.

Key responsibilities

• Provide expert clinical care in haematology, with particular emphasis on haemostasis and thrombosis.
• Contribute to the NHS Tayside Haemophilia Centre and BSH level 3 services for haematological malignancies.
• Participate in the autologous stem‑cell transplantation programme.
• Oversee and interpret a wide range of laboratory investigations, including bleeding disorder assays, immunophenotyping and haemoglobinopathy testing.
• Engage in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching within a busy teaching hospital environment.

Required profile

• Fully qualified consultant haematologist with GMC registration.
• Demonstrated interest and experience in haemostasis and thrombosis.
• Willingness to develop additional sub‑specialist interests in collaboration with existing consultants.
• Commitment to teaching and mentorship of trainees.

Required skills

• Clinical expertise in haemostasis and thrombosis.
• Management of haemophilia services.
• Experience with BSH level 3 haematology care and stem‑cell transplantation.
• Proficiency in interpreting immunophenotyping and haemoglobinopathy laboratory results.
