Senior Packaging Engineer

About the role

This senior position is part of the External Manufacturing & Network Equipment team, responsible for overseeing product and technology transfers to Contract Manufacturing Organizations. The role works closely with cross‑functional teams and external packaging partners to solve complex packaging challenges for small and large molecule assets, medical devices, and combination products.

Key responsibilities

• Lead technology transfers, qualifications, validations and process enhancements for primary and secondary packaging.
• Coordinate technical matters with external CMO partners, including project management, site readiness and execution excellence.
• Provide technical support for quality and supply investigations and drive root‑cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Evaluate and select external packaging partners, preparing detailed assessments and participating in Business Review Meetings.
• Support qualification of distribution, thermal transport and storage methods for finished packaging configurations.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years experience in medical device, combination product or pharmaceutical packaging engineering.
• Proven experience with capital packaging equipment projects, technology transfers and equipment validation.
• Strong project‑management skills and solid GMP/quality‑systems expertise.
• Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Science, Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
