Director of Business Development – Commercial Growth

About the role

Our client, a leading Irish business services organisation, is seeking a Director of Business Development to shape and execute its commercial growth strategy. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will drive sustainable revenue, forge strategic partnerships and identify new market opportunities across public and private sectors.

Key responsibilities

• Define and implement a long‑term commercial growth plan that delivers sustainable business expansion.
• Identify, secure and convert new business opportunities in existing and emerging markets.
• Lead strategic bids, tenders and negotiations to win high‑value, long‑term contracts.
• Build and nurture relationships with key clients, partners and senior decision‑makers.
• Coach, develop and inspire a high‑performing commercial team, fostering collaboration and continuous improvement.
• Monitor market trends, competitor activity and customer insights to inform strategic planning.
• Champion a customer‑centric approach, aligning commercial strategies with organisational objectives.

Required profile

• Significant senior leadership experience in commercial growth, business development or strategic sales, preferably within FMCG, food service or similar sectors.
• Proven track record of winning complex, high‑value contracts and delivering sustainable revenue growth.
• Experience in large‑scale B2B services environments, managing multi‑site client portfolios and long‑term partnerships.
• Strong commercial acumen with the ability to develop strategic growth plans and identify new market opportunities.
• Excellent relationship‑building, negotiation and influencing skills with senior stakeholders.
• Demonstrated success in leading and developing high‑performing commercial teams.
