Manufacturing Technical Operations Specialist

About the role

A Manufacturing Technical Operations Specialist will join the Manufacturing Technical Excellence Team at Merck’s new single‑use, multi‑product biotech facility in Dunboyne, County Meath, Ireland. The role supports site development, cross‑functional project delivery and ensures safety, quality and regulatory compliance in commercial manufacturing operations.

Key responsibilities

• Work with the Integrated Process Team to ensure on‑time batch production and equipment availability.
• Support operations to meet KPIs such as EHS metrics, production plan, OEE, compliance and training.
• Provide technical assistance to maintenance, engineering, quality and other colleagues.
• Execute commercial manufacturing processes according to SOPs and work instructions.
• Lead introduction of new process equipment and provide on‑site technical support.
• Generate and approve GMP documentation, manage change control and support regulatory inspections.

Required profile

• Minimum Level 7 qualification in Science, Engineering or a related discipline.
• 3‑5 years experience in a regulated pharmaceutical manufacturing environment, preferably in technical or operations roles.
• Strong knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies (DMAIC, Lean, 5S) and ability to apply them.
• Excellent written and oral communication, analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to multitask, work across cross‑functional teams and manage competing priorities.
• Technical aptitude with experience reading technical documentation and interfacing with regulators.
