About the role
The Senior Staff Nurse will join the multidisciplinary team on Ward 4C, a 29‑bed surgical unit delivering care for vascular, urology, colorectal and upper GI patients. This dynamic position involves direct patient care, from initial assessment through to planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing interventions.
Key responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to surgical patients, ensuring safety and comfort.
- Conduct patient assessments, develop care plans and monitor progress.
- Collaborate with doctors, allied health professionals and support staff to deliver coordinated care.
- Supervise and mentor junior nursing staff and healthcare assistants.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and adhere to NHS policies and procedures.
Required profile
- Registered Nurse with a current NMC (or equivalent) registration.
- Experience in surgical nursing preferred, though training and support are available.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Commitment to delivering high‑quality, patient‑centred care.
Required skills
- Proficiency in clinical assessment and care planning.
- Ability to work safely in a step‑down unit from critical care.
- Knowledge of infection control and patient safety standards.
