Software Development Engineer

About the role

As a Software Development Engineer on the Amazon Simple Email Service (SES) team, you will help shape the future of email communication for millions of customers worldwide. You will work on both backend and customer‑facing systems, building reliable, highly available, and scalable solutions that power email sending, receiving, and analytics.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain core SES services and APIs.
• Ensure high availability and scalability of email infrastructure across global regions.
• Participate in strategic planning and translate business needs into technical projects.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, including product, operations, and other engineering groups.
• Take part in on‑call rotations, troubleshoot incidents, and drive root‑cause remediation.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a culture of knowledge sharing.
