Academic Advisor

About the role

We are seeking a student‑focused Academic Advisor to join the Academic and Programme Advisory Office at Maynooth University. The role provides high‑quality, student‑centred advice on programme pathways, curriculum structures and university regulations, helping students navigate and succeed in their studies.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver accurate, accessible academic advice to students across all levels of study.
• Support the design and delivery of service‑innovation campaigns and digital advisory resources.
• Collaborate with the Academic and Programme Advisory Office Manager, Student Skills & Success teams, the Office for Students and Learning, and the Maynooth Students’ Union.
• Contribute to the transition and optimisation of academic processes on digital platforms, using data‑informed approaches.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of university regulations and sector best practices.

Required profile

• Minimum five years of experience in student support or advisory roles within higher education.
• Strong communication and organisational abilities.
• Empathetic, solutions‑oriented approach with a commitment to student success.
• Understanding of sectoral best practice and academic regulations.

Required skills

• Knowledge of academic regulations and programme structures.
• Experience with digital service delivery and data‑driven decision making.
• Ability to work collaboratively with diverse university stakeholders.
