Android Engineer – Java/Kotlin (Sensor Team)

About the role

We are seeking a motivated Android Engineer with strong Java and Kotlin skills to join the Sensors team of a multinational semiconductor company in Cork. You will work on Android applications that collect sensor data and demonstrate new features, as well as cross‑platform desktop tools that interact with those devices.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and test Android apps for sensor data collection and feature demos.
• Create cross‑platform desktop tools (Windows/Linux) with user interfaces to control devices, validate data, visualize results, and support post‑processing.
• Develop Java‑based components following industry‑standard design patterns and deployment models.
• Work on prototype and reference platforms covering mobile, wearables, and smart‑glasses form factors.
• Collaborate with global, cross‑functional teams to commercialise sensor algorithms and features.
• Contribute to end‑to‑end data processing pipelines and optimise production data workflows.
• Support internal data‑collection campaigns and field activities, including troubleshooting on employee devices.
• Assist in sensor feature commercialisation, algorithm validation, customer data analysis, and direct customer support.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 2 years of experience developing Android applications with the Android SDK (Android Studio preferred).
• Strong object‑oriented programming skills in Java or Kotlin.
• Proficiency in system‑level development using C++ and Python.
• Fluent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
