Assistant Designer - Menswear

About the role

As an Assistant Designer for Menswear, you will work closely with Primark’s Buying and Merchandising teams to translate emerging trends into commercial product ranges. Reporting to a senior Designer, you will support the creation of fashion-forward, globally-aligned collections that reflect the Primark brand.

Key responsibilities

• Research and spot emerging fashion trends, turning insights into viable concepts for menswear ranges.
• Assist the Designer in building trend-led, commercially balanced product collections.
• Collaborate with Designers, Buyers and Merchandisers to ensure creative vision aligns with brand strategy.
• Track design updates, maintain critical-path timelines and prepare files for presentations and supplier meetings.
• Analyse past range performance with Buying and Merchandising teams to inform future design decisions.
• Support product development by completing focused technical tasks and ensuring design specifications meet quality standards.

Required profile

• Passion for fashion with a strong curiosity about trends and consumer preferences.
• Ability to predict key trends using research and forecasting tools.
• Commercial awareness and understanding of cost implications and competitor activity.
• Strong collaboration skills to work across design, buying and merchandising functions.
