Assistant Professor in Education & Human Development

About the role

Dublin City University is seeking an Assistant Professor to lead and deliver modules within its Education and Human Development programmes. The role focuses on child, adolescent and adult development, critical media literacy, and the impact of social and global inequalities on education.

Key responsibilities

• Design, teach and assess undergraduate and postgraduate modules, including post‑primary placement courses.
• Integrate critical media literacy and equity‑focused perspectives into curricula.
• Support student teachers and educational practitioners in developing critical thinking skills.
• Contribute to research and scholarly activities in education and human development.
• Participate in departmental and university service, promoting inclusion and diversity.

Required profile

• PhD in Education, Human Development, or a closely related discipline.
• Demonstrated experience teaching at the higher‑education level.
• Strong research record with publications in relevant fields.
• Commitment to fostering inclusive learning environments.
• Ability to engage with diverse student populations and interdisciplinary teams.
