Associate Specialist Lead – Control Testers (3 positions)

About the role

We are looking for an Associate Specialist (Lead) to join Northern Trust’s newly established Centralized First Line of Defense (1LoD) Control Testing function. The role will standardize and enhance control testing practices across business units and corporate functions, supporting risk management activities and offering exposure to multiple operational and compliance areas.

Key responsibilities

• Lead control testing execution, including walkthroughs, design, and operating effectiveness testing.
• Perform quality reviews of testing workpapers produced by other testers to ensure compliance with 1LoD Control Testing Methodology.
• Act as the primary liaison with stakeholders throughout all critical testing phases.
• Support testers to ensure efficient and effective test execution.
• Monitor testing phases, escalating significant deficiencies or delays as needed.
• Compile, manage, and distribute monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting such as test results, dashboards, and remediation status.
• Identify, escalate, and follow up on potential deficiencies.

Required profile

• Works under general supervision while primarily operating independently.
• Strong analytical ability to review control test results and identify trends.
• Effective communication skills to engage stakeholders and report findings.
