Business Development Officer

About the role

The Business Development Officer will join the Community Relations team at Simberi Gold’s open‑cut mine on Simberi Island. Reporting to the Community Relations Superintendent, you will help landowner‑owned businesses capture and sustain opportunities linked to mining operations.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, assess and develop business opportunities for landowners linked to the mine.
• Support the establishment, registration and compliance of landowner‑owned enterprises.
• Assist with business planning, financial modelling, budgeting and sustainability strategies.
• Facilitate access to procurement, tendering and supply‑chain opportunities.
• Deliver training on business management, financial literacy and regulatory compliance.
• Monitor business performance, maintain development records and ensure legal and environmental compliance.
• Coordinate workshops, mentoring sessions and engagement with government agencies, development partners and contractors.

Required profile

• Experience supporting community‑based or landowner‑owned enterprises.
• Understanding of compliance requirements in mining‑related contexts.
• Ability to coordinate training, workshops and stakeholder engagement.
• Strong analytical and reporting skills.
