Buyer – FMCG Procurement Specialist

About the role

We are seeking a commercially driven Buyer to join a leading FMCG distributor in Wexford. You will own inventory planning, supplier performance and purchasing activity, helping the business grow in a fast‑paced environment.

Key responsibilities

• Manage purchasing across a diverse FMCG product range to ensure strong product availability.
• Generate and oversee supplier orders, monitor delivery, and resolve discrepancies.
• Analyse sales trends, trading patterns and stock performance to inform buying decisions.
• Develop accurate demand forecasts and inventory plans for regular and promotional periods.
• Collaborate with internal teams on product launches, promotions and seasonal stock needs.
• Build and maintain productive supplier relationships to meet service and commercial targets.
• Monitor inventory health, reduce excess stock, minimise waste and improve stock‑turn.
• Track KPIs such as stock availability, missed sales and inventory efficiency.
• Maintain accurate product, pricing and supplier data in business systems.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years’ experience in buying, procurement, inventory planning, stock control or supply‑chain roles.
• Background in FMCG, wholesale, distribution, retail or food‑related sectors.
• Strong commercial acumen with the ability to interpret data and identify performance improvements.
• Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• Experience using ERP or other inventory management systems.
