About the role
We are looking for a hands‑on Cyber Security Engineer to join the IT team of a large Irish multinational. The role focuses on driving security accreditation, improving security maturity and ensuring the organisation remains audit‑ready against standards such as Cyber Essentials Plus and ISO 27001.
Key responsibilities
- Own and maintain Cyber Essentials Plus accreditation and ensure ongoing readiness.
- Enhance security maturity aligned with ISO 27001 and recognised industry frameworks.
- Implement and manage security controls across boundary firewalls, internet gateways, server, endpoint and cloud configurations.
- Manage user access, privileged access, malware protection, patching and vulnerability remediation.
- Prepare and maintain documentation, evidence and artefacts required for security audits and support external assessors.
- Develop, own and evolve security policies, procedures and standards (CE+, ISO 27001, CIS, NIST).
- Maintain awareness of NIS2, GDPR and other regulatory obligations, especially for incident response.
- Configure and optimise security settings in Microsoft 365 and Azure, including Conditional Access, Entra ID, MFA, Intune, Defender for Endpoint, Defender for Identity and Sentinel.
- Identify security risks, drive remediation to closure and lead cyber‑incident and breach management.
- Deliver security awareness and acceptable‑use training.
- Act as senior escalation point for IT support and administer core platforms such as Microsoft 365, Azure, Active Directory and VMware/vCentre.
- Ensure systems are securely configured by default and contribute to general IT improvement initiatives.
Required profile
- Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related discipline.
- 4–5 years of hands‑on IT experience with a primary focus on cybersecurity.
