Data Scientist – Computer Vision (Hybrid, Dublin)

About the role

Daon, a global leader in digital identity fraud prevention, is looking for a Data Scientist specialized in Computer Vision. The role focuses on applying machine learning, deep learning and computer‑vision techniques to identity document analysis, authentication and fraud detection.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement document‑based algorithms for digital onboarding and identity authentication.
• Create solutions to authenticate identity documents, detect tampering and prevent document fraud.
• Develop processing algorithms using foundation models or traditional machine‑learning and image‑processing techniques.
• Prototype proof‑of‑concepts and evolve them into production‑ready solutions.
• Collaborate with engineering, product and support teams to deploy algorithms across cloud, server and mobile environments.
• Test, evaluate and configure identity‑document processing and analysis pipelines.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or a related field.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of an international team.
• Excellent attention to detail and strong written and spoken English.

Required skills

• Passion for applying machine learning and computer vision to real‑world document and identity problems.
• Experience developing and evaluating advanced ML and CV algorithms.
• Proficiency with modern deep‑learning frameworks and foundation models.
• Strong Python programming skills; C++ experience is a plus.
• Working knowledge of image‑processing libraries and toolkits.
• Experience with data curation, annotation and synthetic training‑data generation.
