Director, Data Engineering

About the role

Mastercard is seeking a Director of Data Engineering to lead the design, implementation, and governance of modern, cloud‑native data platforms. You will shape strategy across AWS and Azure, ensuring data assets are secure, scalable, and easily accessible for global teams.

Key responsibilities

• Architect end‑to‑end cloud‑native solutions, including Lakehouse architectures using S3, Azure Data Lake, and Databricks.
• Provide technology and people leadership to a globally distributed engineering team.
• Drive DevOps initiatives: create CI/CD pipelines, implement infrastructure‑as‑code, and automate environment provisioning.
• Define and enforce cloud security best practices (IAM, encryption, network security) and regulatory compliance (GDPR, HIPAA).
• Establish enterprise‑grade data governance frameworks and propagate best practices across data platforms.
• Collaborate with cross‑geography data and platform engineers to eliminate friction in data management.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in data engineering and platform engineering.
• Strong track record of building and scaling data platforms in multi‑cloud environments.
• Hands‑on builder who can roll up sleeves while shaping long‑term strategy.
