Director, Technology Risk

About the role

Mastercard is seeking a Director of Technology Risk to lead independent second‑line oversight of technology risk across its European markets. The role focuses on ensuring that technology activities align with internal policies, regulatory expectations, and the company’s risk appetite.

Key responsibilities

• Provide independent second‑line oversight and validation of technology risks, with emphasis on operational resilience and security.
• Review and assess control design, operational effectiveness, and testing results across key technology areas such as change management, system availability, security, access, and data.
• Maintain and support a technology risk management framework that complies with regulatory requirements and Mastercard’s enterprise risk standards.
• Develop and deliver clear, decision‑useful risk reporting for market and Group governance forums.
• Monitor and document technology‑related risks, control deficiencies, and remediation actions using approved GRC tools.
• Support the development of local technology policies, standards, and metrics aligned with the approved risk appetite.

Required profile

• Significant experience in technology risk management, preferably within the financial services or payments sector.
• Strong understanding of regulatory expectations related to technology, operational resilience, and security.
• Proven ability to work independently, influence stakeholders, and drive remediation of control deficiencies.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills for reporting to senior governance bodies.

Required skills

• Knowledge of technology risk frameworks and regulatory standards (e.g., operational resilience, security).
• Experience with governance, risk and compliance (GRC) tools.
• Familiarity with risk reporting and metric development.
