Electrical Design Engineer

About the role

Silent Aire, part of Johnson Controls, is a global leader in designing and manufacturing mission-critical custom air handlers, liquid cooling systems and modular data centres. As an Electrical Design Engineer in Dublin, you will take ownership of electrical design and development of large-scale liquid cooling solutions, CDU projects and mission-critical HVAC equipment, working with engineering managers, mechanical teams, controls specialists, manufacturing and project stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse customer specifications, technical requirements and project drawings, ensuring compliance with electrical codes and standards.
• Develop electrical designs, power distribution schematics and single-line diagrams using CAD and electrical design software.
• Produce controls schematics, wiring diagrams and electrical/control panel layouts for custom air handling and cooling equipment.
• Perform electrical calculations such as load analysis, fault current, cable sizing, MCA, overcurrent protection and voltage drop.
• Select and specify components, prepare bills of materials and technical documentation, and review design deliverables.
• Prepare project submittal packages and support manufacturing, commissioning, field service, procurement and customer teams.
• Mentor junior engineers, take part in design reviews and risk assessments, and support bids with technical input and cost estimation.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering (BEng, BSc Eng) or equivalent.
• 5+ years of experience in electrical design engineering, preferably in HVAC, data centre, industrial, critical infrastructure or related fields.
• Knowledge of electrical power distribution, motor controls, panel design and control system integration.
• Strong project planning, communication and stakeholder management skills, and experience mentoring others.
