Financial Accountant – 12‑Month Fixed‑Term

About the role

The Kepak Group is seeking a Financial Accountant on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract to support its McCarren Meats division. Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will ensure the integrity of statutory accounts and provide timely financial insight for senior management.

Key responsibilities

• Manage weekly accounts processes, minimise weekly‑to‑monthly variances and explain significant stock movements.
• Lead month‑end close activities, including journal entries, accruals and general ledger preparation.
• Prepare the monthly reporting pack, profit & loss statement, balance sheet and general ledger reconciliations.
• Conduct general ledger spend analysis and produce reports highlighting operational control issues.
• Oversee accounts payable, handling weekly payments to farmers and suppliers.
• Respond to ad‑hoc queries and generate required reports.

Required profile

• Part‑qualified or fully qualified accountant, or equivalent finance experience.
• Strong knowledge of monthly reconciliations and control‑procedure improvement.
• High awareness of current technical accounting and reporting standards.
• Proficient with Excel and a solid understanding of accounting software principles.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, problem‑solving and organisational skills.
