Financial Accountant

About the role

The client is a manufacturing company based in Longford seeking a Financial Accountant to ensure accurate financial reporting, robust controls, and commercial support across the organisation. The role will manage core accounting functions, support budgeting and audit processes, oversee cash flow and banking activities, and provide analysis for operational and strategic decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts, including profit & loss and balance sheet reports.
• Complete balance‑sheet reconciliations and perform variance analysis.
• Manage accounts receivable, process cash receipts, and maintain debt control procedures.
• Monitor cash flow, maintain bank discounting controls, and liaise with banking institutions.
• Assist in the preparation and monitoring of sales and CAPEX budgets and maintain fixed‑asset registers.
• Participate in inventory reviews, conduct material usage variance analysis.
• Prepare and submit VAT returns and coordinate R&D tax claims and grant applications.
• Support compliance with internal controls and audit requirements for UK and Ireland operations.

Required profile

• Qualified or part‑qualified (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA or equivalent).
• Experience in financial accounting, month‑end reporting, budgeting, reconciliations and financial analysis.
• Knowledge of VAT, audit preparation and financial compliance.
• Strong attention to detail, organisational skills and ability to communicate across departments.
• Manufacturing or operational finance experience is advantageous.
