Financial Controller / Finance Manager

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Financial Controller / Finance Manager to lead the finance function of a well‑established, growing organisation in Carrick‑on‑Shannon. This hands‑on position will be responsible for accurate financial reporting, budgeting, cash‑flow management and providing commercial insight to senior leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts and quarterly financial reports for senior leadership.
• Manage year‑end accounts, external audit coordination and statutory returns including VAT.
• Produce weekly cash‑flow forecasts, monitor liquidity and oversee accounts payable/receivable.
• Lead the annual budgeting process, maintain rolling forecasts and analyse variances.
• Provide financial performance reports, revenue analysis and commercial insights to department managers.
• Develop and maintain robust financial controls, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and tax legislation.
• Liaise with external auditors, banks and professional advisors.
• Oversee payroll processes and ensure payroll compliance.
• Identify cost‑saving opportunities and evaluate capital‑expenditure proposals.

Required profile

• Fully qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA, CPA or CIMA).
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a senior finance role such as Financial Controller or Finance Manager.
• Strong background in management accounting, budgeting, forecasting and cash‑flow management.
• Knowledge of VAT, payroll and statutory compliance.
• Experience preparing audits and implementing financial controls.
• Excellent analytical, organisational and stakeholder‑management abilities.
• Desirable experience in hospitality, leisure or service‑based industries and familiarity with ERP/finance systems.
